Freedom
Court
A special home for people with Alzheimer’s disease
and the caregivers who love them.
Freedom
Court is a specialized area developed around the unique needs
of residents with Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders.
The environment is designed to encourage and support independence
while ensuring safety. Freedom Court offers private and semi-private
rooms, and a large family room, dining room and outdoor area
that includes a garden with comfortable furniture. Background
noise and other negative stimulation are greatly reduced and
replaced with soothing sounds and soft lighting.
Because
this is the Resident’s home, we strive to provide a
comfortable, caring place that gives each resident a sense
of security, belonging, trust and contentment. The goal of
this specialized living unit is to improve the quality of
life of residents in the moderate stages of dementia, emphasizing
not what is lost, but what remains. Our professionally trained
and consistently assigned staff promotes trusting relationships
with the Resident as well as family members. Daily activities
and socialization are used to encourage each Resident to achieve
their personal best. Scheduled events by the activity department
offer creativity with a focus on the Residents’ interests
and abilities, while individualized activities are intended
to redirect residents as needed. Daily housekeeping tasks
such as folding, dusting and sweeping are often therapeutic
and can make a Resident feel useful and productive. Our regular
family meetings allow family members involvement in the care
of their loved ones, while a monthly support group promotes
education and sharing of common caregiver experiences.
